January 8....photo a day....

.... the pot is 14 inches high.... the snow cone is exactly the same...

another pot.... well protected... tucked up tight against the side of the house under an overhang...

I left the flax in the pot in case a little birdie needed a seed or two in the winter....

I don't like Oprah....but every so often while on the treadmill, I surf in or out of her hour to check if she has anybody of interest on there.... Today it was Suze Orman.

She was encouraging people to take a simple 3 step pledge that would help them understand where their money goes.... how easily and quickly it goes...etc... and guess what? Hardly anybody was willing to bother....

So simple and similar to what we did many years ago to help us save our down-payment for this house. It was an eye opener for us.....

1. Don't spend any money for one whole day
2. Don't use a credit card for one whole week.
3. Don't eat in a restaurant for one whole month.

Guess which one caused the most grief?

Eating in a restaurant... geeeez....like it is a huge inconvenience to eat at home. If they add up all the receipts... don't they get it? Maybe they have never actually done that. All I can think of are the things I would so much rather buy with that wad of money...or put into my body (at home) than mediocre or poor quality fat laden foods .... lets not even talk about service or expected tipping.....

stick a carrot and some rocks in the snow and it could be a snowman's head :p

I think the last time we went out to a restaurant was in 2007 when we were on holiday. I would much rather eat at home, have a nice home cooked meal and know that its clean then spend money going out. (people don't tip here and I find some services better of because of it)

Dearie, when does all that snow go away? It's 80 here to-day -- but when it's nice and comfortable where you are in summer, we'll be 110 or something here...guess the weather doesn't cooperate all the time anywhere! Maybe in Hawaii or something ...

Snow, snow go away, can you tell I am sick of it already and the sad thing is we still have most of the month to go for our challenge and something tells me we are all going to have many more snow pictures, LOL!!
I love your fairy doll on your sidebar she is very pretty!

that is one pile of snow and a perfect explanation (snow cone). I saw the same show today and was surprised about people not being able to give up eating out. It wouldn't be a problem for me and neither would the rest you should give up as I do all of them already that's the why I am retired now.

Good gawd- you are going to have a mini avalache!

I don't care for Oprah either. Used to adore her, but she got too preachy and seemed to feel it was her calling to enlighten all of us. But I do like Orman- bright woman! Hell, that is the way we lived when all the kids were living at home- just a way of life and no choice. But too many young people today aren't willing to do that and often live beyond their means, spending their lives in debt.

LOVE the tub of snow! How sweet of you to think of the birds.

I must be the odd one out because I love Oprah. Good points from the show you watched. The only people who get tipped in Australia that I know of, are bar-tenders. We eat out on the very rare occasion...all my kids prefer a home-cooked meal. :)

Oh my God all that snow. You are right on about eating out, we do it occasionally but much rather eat at home.

well, let's see.

We hardly ever spend any money on Fridays. Mon-Wed the only money spent goes to either gas or therapy. sunday the only money goes to Sonic....IF we go. and we haven't used a credit card for months on end. Other than Sonic which we MIGHT go to on the way home from church, we haven't eaten in a restaurant since Dec 16th. Before that was sometime in August.

I like the snow cone - yum!

Good advice for saving money -
Isn't that so funny about eating out at a Restaurant.

I would much rather eat at home, one you know what goes into your food and how it is prepared.
