January 7....a photo a day....

This is not snow.

Yesterday the temperatures were a bit milder and all the heavy snow on the outer areas of branches disappeared. When I first opened the curtains this morning ... a soupy fog was hanging in the air. Rare for us. We get a lot of sunshine even on cold, wintery days... But, overnight... with the moisture in the air from a warmer day ...and then some cool nighttime air .... everything was covered in a thick, hoary frost.

I threw on a big sweater, pants over my 'jammies, .... and high boots, so I could step into the deep snow, and got out there right away.

A winter wonderland once again, but... the sun could poke out at any minute and all of my great pics would have disappeared....

This time I started out with light mitts on...but, just couldn't seem to use the shutter properly and had to ditch them anyway ... so...after about 12 mintues... at -12C with a breeze...which makes it feel more like -18C.... my fingers were getting pretty numb.

.... a lone berry on the CotonEaster hedge.... some happy bird will find it eventually....

the cobwebs on the shed became lacy and decorative ...

blue fescu left to overwinter in a pot... became an albino....

Even the faux greenery garland on the patio wall was not exempt ... it looks more natural than ever painted with a thick coating of real frost......

oh, look, a kitten lost its mittens... .... .... light snow began to fall while I was out there.....

Back inside to hold a steaming cup of coffee between my frozen pinkies....aaaahhhhhhhh ... now happily sitting here admiring all 30 of my frosty photos. I was happy with all of them.....

Still haven't moved outside my own yard .... guess I must be a happy hermit ..... never mind guessing....I know I am.

UPDATE:::: recipe for Tropical Christmas Bread...which is not only for Christmas..nor is it really a bread... just a reeeeeellly tasty loaf...

Beautiful photos, Vee! What a great capture! Really gorgeous pictures. Thanks for risking frost bite and the lose of your fingers to share these with us.

We have had night time fogs the past few weeks. Hate to drive in, but love the look of everything draped in a heavy fog.

I just love all your frosty photos.
I am enjoying seeing all your wonderful snaps and you haven't moved out of your back yard.

It made me smile ~ the kittens have lost their mittens ( sweet)

Hugs

wow, I don't think I've ever seen that hoary frost in person. Those are dramatic photos...and for some reason I just want to make a joke about the name hoary.

Was your neighbor out watching you again..ha!

I love the evergreens covered in snow and that poor forlorn berry and those spider webs. Now that is seeing some different things than just snow.

These are all beautiful photos even if ones doesn't love snow. You've captured the very essence of winter.
Now to go back and find that recipe!
