Caution: ...may be toxic....

If only we could bag it and use it ....perhaps for hamster or gerbil shavings...but, pine, cedar and some others can be toxic to your little guys..... so...be careful what you do use.  Sadly...I am just sweeping and tossing (I feel guilty as it must be good for something) ...mounds of the stuff!  All the new wires need newly drilled holes, because the old stuff just hung down from the ridge vent area at the top of the house.  These low slope roofs are a nuisance to renovate.

I wonder if my garden would appreciate some ..... hmmm...must look that up too.....

There are literally miles of wire hanging everywhere ....the electrician is here...has been for days.  Older homes need to be brought up to code.  If you see something ... you must change it if it is not up to code.  That's the law.  So...if the drywall is still in place and you don't actually see what is behind it ... okay....but...if the drywall is taken off and you see older code wiring ...it must be replaced.  And... as usual, when we take off another sheet of drywall...we 'discover' things nobody knew were there....or things that need bringing up to date.  Sigh... it has become a total re-wiring job.

In other news...my hen had chicks...hahahha.... Mr. BV snapped this the other night..... in the midst of chaos ...always a little pretty to admire ....

You are very right about those shavings! Our gerbils, Bert & Ernie, usually use Carefresh litter but my Mommeh mixes in some dried aspen shavings which is safe for them. They love timothy hay, too!

Hiya Daisy....thanks for stopping by to check it out..... and I have to say, I'm glad I checked it to see what is safe and what is not....

I think our wood is mostly spruce and fir...but, still... one can't take chances with furry friends...

Cedar and other"pine-y" woods help to deter moths. Sew some little lightweight muslin sacks with a coed loop and hang in closets or drawers.(Though I'd suggest you don't allow it to contact clothes, in case oils stain)
Or add some coarser shavings to pot-pourri.
I know...I've been away for ages and here I am, telling you what to do. Sorry!

What's wrong with me?...I was looking for actual birds!!!

Just the word "codes" makes me get a headache! It does seem to be coming along at a good pace though.

Hang in there! xo

You are all electrified! :D ... just kidding ... my dry sence of humor! It's taking shape! Great of you to post the step by step pics, giving as a good idea of the process ... major renos!! I'm trying to figure out which part of the house is the pic, with a white door in it. Big Hug.

These jobs always turn out to be bigger (and therefore more expensive) than planned!!

Renovations, once you start you find another thing to do or fix. But it will be so nice once it's done!
