a dreary day with a fun parcel!!

Today it's rainy, blustery and only +9C.... plus, I'm damn cranky because I wrecked myself on Saturday night and am suffering.  Reached into a woodbox for a few sticks of wood to toss onto the fire we were sitting around at the neighbour's and ouch!! wrecked my ribs somehow.  A searing jolt of pain on the right side.  Not to be put off..I repositioned my body and leaned in again on the other side ...ouch! ...what an idiot!  Now..both  sides are in pain.  The doctor doesn't think I'm fractured or broken and didn't think we needed to bother with x-rays and unnecessary radiation ... but, with osteoporosis... one does wonder.... and, so, we just wait... all you can do with ribs.  But...the waiting is not fun, nor is it painfree.  She did give me some anti-inflammatories..with some pain killer in them ...but... it hardly touches the pain..especially if I have to cough, sneeze or hiccup.  Oh, man...last night I choked a bit on a pepper flake...and yiked and youched all around the kitchen while coughing really hard. So, today it's worse than it was ... *&^%$#!

So.... I'm just hanging out with my ice packs...my cuppa tea and I did manage to get some bars granola  together..but, finally just gave up on anything else..when all of a sudden the doorbell was dinging and it was the postman.
Couldn't figure it out...because I wasn't expecting anything.....but, don'tcha love snail mail?? ...or even better...snail parcels?  They still haven't figured out a way to send those via the cyberwaves. And thank goodness.  Because I love parcels.  And, I especially loved getting THIS parcel!

A needle felted bear from a new needle felting friend in Poland.  Isn't he great?  What a sweet little worried expression he has on his face.

Frikkles was the first to get over to the chair and welcome him.....Frikkles is the largest guy I have felted and still looks a bit small compared to the new guy ...who is only 4 inches (3 seated) ...  .....

Posie may be small, but she is very brave and pretty cheeky too....she went straight over to say hi.... she thinks he's pretty cute, I can tell, because that's her "coy" look she is giving him.........

"He-who-has-no-name-yet" was also on the welcome committee .... and they all tried to reassure the new guy.  But...he still looks a tad worried.
I'm sure he'll be fine once he settles into the curio cabinet and gets used to all of the regulars who hang out in there.

Thank you agaFil.... my new needle felting buddy... I wish you lived closer so we could visit and do some wool stabbing together......

Check out her Flickr site to see her other little creations.....

oh, look..... I checked back an hour later to see how my new little man was settling and lo and behold...there he was telling them all the story of how he flew here from so many miles away.... awww..... perfect...and from this angle he doesn't look too worried anymore...

He is so sweet. I've never seen this before and am now wondering if anyone around here makes these cute little bears. It would be the perfect new hobby I'd like to take up. Shame you're so far away or I'd be knocking on your door, Vee.
I love the concerned look on his face and he's the perfect companion to you babies. What a beautiful gift. Aren't you lucky to have such thoughtful friends.
Those ribs sound very painful. Every time you go to do something, you're going to have to pull up and think about how you're going to tackle it. ( She says-the one who is always doing a shoulder in or hurting some part of the body without thinking!) Maa

What a fun circle of adorable bears, and how nice to have your spirits lifted by the package with your new buddy inside. Heal quickly you hear?

Poor Vee - it sounds very painfull indeed. Get better soon... you've all those bears depending on you!

Such a beautiful little surprise in the mail. What fun. It was a delight reading how newbear was welcomed into the clan.
Hmmmm, he still has the slightly worried look on his face - perhaps he's just one of those bears who laughs on the inside ;-)

Vee Sweetie, so sorry to hear you hurt yourself. Please be careful and take care. :(
That little bear that arrived does have a worried face. Maybe he is just scared from traveling such a long way alone! Poor dear. But I am happy to see your cute little bears have given him a Warm Welcome! LOL

Vee, I hope that with the passing of several days, your ribs are better. I know only too well how coughing can send the pain level for this type of thing through the roof.

Love your new little bear - what a lovely gift to receive. I also love the story you have told with all the bears....too cute!

Hugs,

Sue

I made a needle-felted bear once, but it didn't have any moveable joints. It looks like this bear can move his head. How do you do that? Do you have to do the head separately and then use some sort of attachment?

Sorry to hear about your pain. I do hope you haven't damaged your ribs. Strange they didn't X ray?

Hope you'll soon be better.

Gentle hugs :)

Awwww... I always love your bear stories. They are so darn cute!

I must have missed your last post - I didn't know you were injured until I read your recent comment. Ribs are a tough place to have an injury - as you say really all you can do is wait it out. I sure do hope you are feeling better soon!

Oh no Vee, how are you feeling now? It's difficult to think of anything worse than pain. Have I ever told you how much I love miniature bears. All the little scenarios you've put together are great, and have put a big smile on my face. I especially like the one of 'he' bear quietly checking out little Posie! x

PS. I'm hoping to bump into Nicky Hayden tomorrow, at Day of Champions at Silverstone - yeehaw!
