photo a Week

This year we are taking turns with suggestions for photos .. Yesterday began Mary O's month of themes....

The first one is ... "from my window".  Several of us were bemoaning our fate ... dirty windows.  I definitely vetoed my own initial idea of going out to wash them because it's cold!  Although, today is a balmy -8C in comparison to -21C of a week ago .... and it IS lovely and sunny, so .... perhaps .... maybe... no!  Forget it.  Momentary lack of judgement there.... whew... luckily I landed with a thump right back in reality.

Surely there are some "clean enough" windows....... aha..... of course.  Find one in a shaded area ... that's the trick. You can't really detect smears and dirt with no sun directly on them.   I always love this little window on the world....
When we did one of our many renovations projects ... oh, about 12 years ago now.. we got a new door, with this pretty leaded type window. Over the years, several neighbours got the very same door.  Mr. BV is now searching out a new door.  He is disgusted that they "copied" ... although some say copying is a form of flattery.  He says how does anybody driving by know that we were not just part of the neighbourhood lemming colony?  I assured him that I, at least, know he is the lead lemming.......

Poor little cherub.... patiently waiting for spring....

I love your window. Too bad you can't ship it over here when you've found another one. My husband wants a new front door too. Our's just has a round window that really doesn't give us much light.

That door window is beautiful! I don't blame Mr. Vee for resenting the neighbors for copying. We have a neighbor who does that- she even says she's copying off us because we have good ideas-LOL! So whatcha' going to do? Beats me. I do resent it when people copy what I do and intrude into my own little world.

Hallo Canada ! This door window is wonderful. I forgot to tell you that little Raffles was so kind to let me use his as a model for the little bear I needled the other day. But I did not have the kind of eyes for the little one, so I have to needle him some ! The little girl who is going to get the socks and the little bear, is named Solveig. It was a common name earlier, and it means "House" + "strenght" xoxo

LOL! First of all that is a lovely window, and 2nd of all I feel the tiniest bit sorry for your DH - first the neighbors and then SUCH sympathy from you. "Lead lemming" indeed. Oh my... that one is going to keep me giggling for a while. Hope it warms up for you SOON.

Now, now, be sensible BV - the reason Spring cleaning is called that is because you DON'T DO IT IN WINTER!!!!! You're allowed - no, supposed - to have filthy windows, cobwebby ceilings, dusty bookshelves etc in winter, and the amazing thing is, they all wait patiently for you to tackle them - in Spring! 'Tis flyin' in the face of Nature to do anything earlier.....

I love your window and the shot of the lamp post through it in your second photo is wonderful! I hear you on the cold - same here (my windows are staying dirty until the Spring)

Heehee! I got just two windows washed so I could see the birds this winter. The rest of them can jolly well wait until spring...or summer.
I LOVE your door window and can't blame your DH for resenting the copiers...I think that was tacky!

Having the neighbors copy you is the price you pay for having such great taste.

Wonderful, Wonderful photos though the door window. That is an amazing window, no wonder the neighbors had to have one of their own...at least, you were the first. I'm going out today to see if I can find one just like it..Ha Ha...Maybe I can add some taste and culture to my neighborhood....Shelly

I think I'm in love with that round window. Our door is, well, old and ugly and desperately in need of replacement. So your nice door makes me drool.

I love your pretty door window! I like all your pictures, Vee. We have neighbors who have copied much of what we've done...a deck, pool, bay window, front flower garden, the way we put up our Christmas lights and yes...our front door too! Not only do they copy us, but they've gotten the same front porch as the people across the street and the same fence as a neighbor on the other side! We just did a new window treatment...let's see how long it takes before they do the same thing! Your hubby is very funny! Hugs, Paulette ;)
