just hanging out .....

Apoxy Sculpt was dry and hard as a rock today.. perfect. I got the first shoe front/upper finished and got a lovely heel put on.. it went along very well and I was happy with the shape of it.

But, as with all best laid plans.... trying to get a look-a-like heel happening on the other shoe ?.... ...no dice.

I fiddled with it for over an hour ... but, by then, felt like the piece of clay was getting to the overworked stage.... and so was I... hahahh.... or at least the worked up stage ... so just gave it up for the day and baked bread instead.

Then, I baked some Stollen ..... heh, heh, heh, ... no I didn't.

Just kidding. I only do that for Christmas. But, when I noticed this picture in my food file... how could I not throw it in for a laugh? However, seeing as I was baking bread... that did call for some home made soup don'tcha think? what goes better with a chunk of toasted home-made bread than a tasty bowl of soup? Not much, that's what! And, besides I had a bit of this and a bit of that in the fridge... who was it said "waste not, want not" ?? .. oh yeh ... dear ol' Dad ... and Mum ... and every other parent I'm sure ..... it's one of those things that did stick.

Thanks for all the suggestions yesterday regarding sizing of my doll parts.... I actually do have the head-to-rest-of-body ratio chart. But, I was thinking more of when a person is designing the pattern pieces. Wondering if there is a way to draw up the pieces in the correct size without having to sew up each one and stuff it and then, check it against every other piece..but, I suppose that is how it has to go so you can get the feel for the sum of the parts. Or, just thinking here... maybe the head to other parts ratio is still the same. I'll check that out in the morning... my eyes can't see any more tonight....

and Dolores...just to clarify... I'm not really beginning at the bottom of the doll and working my way up..... honest. There are many body parts lying about all over the place...

Can I ask what you do with all your beautiful dolls? I imagine you living in a huge house with them in every nook and cranny. I love fantasy creatures and would collect dragons but I would hate all the dusting. Good luck with the second shoe. Can't wait to see the result.

I felt a tiny bit scairted inside when I read that you have many body parts lying about all over the place...

Have a happy holiday weekend!

Thank you so much for the link you left on my sister's blog page. Love the fitted crafting room. Hope you have had many many happy hours of use since August.

I'm with Daisy. It's scary to think of body parts all over the place. Reminds of the time I asked my son something about his girlfriend's basement and why they didn't have a party down there or watch TV and he informed me that there were body parts all over the basement. It seems that the mother made porcelain dolls.
Thanks for the clarification - I'm so glad the legs are not the beginning. You had me worried there. Some Freudian thing...

See, it wasn't me - it was the title on your last post. You said "it begins with ideas floating around..." and I thought that your ideas began with legs and went up to the head.
