"I got you something shiny!"

The words all women love to hear.

Especially when it is a husband or loved one saying them.  Particularly when he has a triumphant, big grin plastered all over his sweet face and hands behind his back.  And, usually, most of us immediately think of something like this.

But ..... sometimes it is surprising what those words can mean.... ... when the "something" arrives in a 6 x 6 inch box in a plastic bag.

I had looked at the art shop, a large hobby shop, and Michael's, all to no avail.  Who the heck sells them?  I was stumped.  But, then on his way home from the office last week, Mr. BV stopped and found this for me.

Shiny.  Chrome.  And, shiny black too.... she's a beaut!

With a special little lever that creates suction on the bottom so it can be moved to any flat firm surface.  A lovely new pencil sharpener!  Our old one was just that...really old... actually it was vintage and worked perfectly... til one day somebody knocked it off the workbench because it was not actually screwed into place...sigh... still miss that little burgundy sharpener... it softly ground and sharpened pencils perfectly.  This one just doesn't have quite the same feel or sound to it...but, it works a charm.

I was thrilled to get my "something shiny" .....

You know something? The something shiny that you got is just what I would have liked too! I've never been a fan of diamonds and flashy jewelry. I would say that man of yours is definitely a keeper!!

Yes that's my kind of shiny too! There is something very relaxing about sharpening pencils and as an ex infants teacher I have sharpened a few in my time! Enjoy. x Jo

I love my x-acto electric pencil sharpener. I tried to tell others what a great job they do on my Prisma pencils and they didn't believe me.....they are fantastic. Shiny is good.... so good. Enjoy all those sharp pencils,I can hear the blades working already.. ;o))

I got one of those automatic pencil sharpeners, and it either grinds the pencil down to a nub, or it only knocks the tip off. I really like yours. I'd take that over diamonds any day. I'd say hubby is definitely a keeper.

It's amazing how sometimes a man can come up trumps and your's is on a winner this time! That's a super gift to me and I wouldn't thank anyone for wasting money on diamonds. Think of all the other wonderful things the price of a rock would buy.... like pencil sharpeners for example!

Hi Vee,

Lovely shiny new sharpener - we used to have a big old one, on our family desk when I was growing up and they are neat.
Great that Mr BV is so thoughtful and they are the best when they do things like this.

happy weekend
hugs
Carolyn

Isn't it funny what can make us happy? I remember my 10th wedding anniversary--a friend of mine who shared the same anniversary year proudly showed off her yellow diamond. me? I got a used work-horse of a Bernina sewing machine. She never understood my excitement.
