GE appliances, Pagh !!

Now the brand new GE Monogram 'Fridge is making strange noises... and is unable to maintain set temperature in the freezer drawers.  I took my peas and other stuff out and put it in the chest freezer downstairs.

Not only are we not impressed ...we are disgusted.  Totally disheartened and ready to just cry about it all.  Where did we go wrong?  Everywhere it seems.  At this point....I cannot in all good conscience recommend anything GE.

Even the stovetop... not many people have this humming and buzzing problem with stainless pans with their stovetops.  So far only Miele and GE that I have heard about.  Not good.

After getting the keypad fixed on the 'also brand new' microwave.... and having gone through months of hassles with the cabinet company to get the panel correct that surrounds it... we decided it looked cheap and cheesy ... so we bought a new Panasonic instead.  Routered the panel ourselves to make it fit properly.  And...now have a brand new GE  microwave for sale.  .. in the Panasonic box... because of course, by now we had thrown out the GE box it belongs in.

So.... I have my call in to the technicians for the fridge...which of course, we also had months of hassling over....and finally got to use it only 2 months ago when the panels for that finally got made properly and were installed.

Arrghhhh!!!!

Baking is my salvation.  I have no motivation to do much else.

Pineapple cocoanut muffins yesterday....oh....man...are they tasty.  I invented them to use up some cocoanut milk and some pineapple I was using for a chicken dish the day before.  Still some of the milk remaining....so today...I'm making carrot sweet potato curry soup...with cocoanut milk and a bit of pineapple tossed in.  It will all be pureed at the end..... mmm....with fresh bread.... which I am making as I type..... okay well, it is resting.... I'm typing.

Look at the pretty buttery design in the bottom of the mixer bowl....

Gosh, who would have thought that the GE brand has gone downhill. All my things are Kenmore (I know, there's a different brand underneath.) I know that htis is after the fact but did you read any reviews on the products? I seem to read the reviews only after I buy something - figures.

Oh my gosh.. I don't know what to say but don't buy Kitchenaid ... may have been good once but not any longer, I swear I wish could shoot mine.. don't buy maytag... don't buy Whirlpool. I am using a panasonic microwave.. my last one lasted 10 years.
I am just so dismayed by the quality of goods being put on the market now. it is really disheartening. I don't know how you stand it.
But that cooking you're doing sounds so delicious. I wish I had more time to think up some new dishes, but I have to buy a new range first. I was hoping that GE was the last dependable maker. I hate waste.
and by all means do not have a fender bender with a little Honda Fit.. they get good mileage but they crumple like tin foil. doesn't take much to cause $8,000. damage. (that was a couple years ago, now I'm afraid to drive anywhere cause the insurance is too expensive.

Oh dear - how annoying that your stuff is giving you so much hassle! I hope you get it all sorted out. I find swearing and threatening to through things out the window helps!!

Hi Vee,

Oh dear ... don't talk to me about fridges! Ours is on its way out making strange noises, mind you it is old. The next thing is what do you buy? everything seems to be rubbish now days.
I have been doing research and reading reviews and don't think anyone makes a decent one anymore.
Today we are going to have another look in the shops - really do not want to buy a lemon.

Good luck with getting yours sorted
hugs
Carolyn

the humming on the induction stove really isn't brand specific, it all depends on what pans you use. some pans do it, others done

GE has been crap for years, would never buy anything buy them, not worth the hassles

That's too bad you're going through so much with appliances! We don't have any GE appliances but it's horrible that manufacturers aren't making higher quality items these days.

aw, crud. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. :( My cousin used to work for GE and even she said not to buy their stuff--it is AWFUL! That said, I'm not sure what appliances are really good anymore.

Happy baking. I hope that puts a smile on your face.

Nothing is ever right these days - no matter how much we pay for the pleasure!! I am not a grumbler but we do seem to end up having to take stuff back etc far more than we ever used to. I bet that soup didn't get any complaints! x Jo

At the price of electrical appliances - you expect them to work properly!!

Just wondering, I notice that you allow 'anonymous' comments on your blog. Do you think that is how you are getting spam comments on your blog? I've never used word verification (but I don't allow anonymous comments) and have never had a problem with spam.

Just a thought! :)

I know that when I am on my ipad, I can't comment on blogs that have word verification. Then I feel bad because I can't comment.

Have a super Thursday!
