Incommunicado...

... for the past few days......
A much more interesting word than "offline" don'tcha think?  I would like to blame it alllll on Mother Nature...but, in reality, it's our own fault because we didn't turn things off soon enough.

Thursday began so beautifully, but by noon the wind was picking up considerably.... and by late afternoon it was gusting 60 to 80 kph... the trees were really flapping around and the robins were hunkered down in the patio.

The clouds rolled in and by 5:30 it began to snow.... luckily the soup I was making for supper was pretty much done and just simmering....because soon there would be no heat.  Three minutes after it began snowing it looked like this.   We turned on lights... they began to flicker and dim....

I should have been down here already turning the computer off.  But, was I clever?  No...I didn't bother.  I sliced some bread and made toast to go with our soup.  Then... blam...off went everything.  15 minutes later... it came back on... then... poof....off again...for a few hours.  Soup and toast by candlelight....how romantic... no truly, it was.

Somebody was struggling to read something by candlelight.  How did people manage it in the "olden" days?

I do love me some candlelight though....

It was a bit tricky to find the toilet with just this little tiny flame....

Friday dawned clear, blue and sunny.  Oh, yeh... there was snow too.   It's still there in the shaded areas.  The south and west parts of the yard are bare once again.

BUT.... the computer wouldn't connect after having blown itself out of the water. .. instead of being turned off properly.
So Friday was strange with no connection to the outside world..... hahahha.... oh, well, all the more time for a good hard workout!

And...it was only this morning that we got it sorted out.  Mr. BV is stubborn and always wants to know what and why....so he puzzled at it 'til he got it..... yaaaay.  He was muttering about little old grannies knowing more than he does ... huh?  I don't think so!  They call the Geek Squad the minute things go awry.  Which, I would do too if I didn't have "somebody" doing it all for me.....

I tried to draw by candlelight when we participated in Earth Hour but it was way too hard on my eyes so I gave up. I too wondered how on earth they managed it in olden times.

I'm glad all was well with your computer in the end. I always shut down the computers the moment we hear the rumblings of a storm in the distance. However, I was a little slow to do this not all that long ago and we blacked out. The next morning, I thought the storm had killed my computer monitor as it would not turn on. Thankfully, after some checking, I discovered that the multi-power-board had taken the fall for the monitor. A much cheaper fix but I surely learned my lesson. lol

Wonderful pics, Vee!

I agree, it is terribly hard to read by candle light. I am glad you are all powered up again. The snow photos are eerie yet pretty.

We're all rather spoiled with the discovery of electricity, not to mention computers and cell phones and whatever's next. And I would like to stay spoiled, thank you very much, but Mother Nature doesn't always agree or cooperate.
Glad your computer didn't have major meltdown. No fun!

lovely romantic dinner by candlelight :) always nice to have a nice dinner with a loved one

glad your computer is all right. I have no idea how people read in candlelight, probably had bad eyes by the end of the book

Hello again, Vee, and thanks for the birthday greetings !

I know what it is like when the weather turn into a horror. Storm, snow and now electricity ! It is cozy to eat in the dark with anything but a candle, but I had to desided it myself. Now we all are longing for the Spring !

Your Eddy is the most wonderful Bunny ever, you are so talented !!!!

I hope the weather is nicer to you and wish you a nice Spring !

Now I`m gonna practice on my accordion !

I love candlelight too, Vee, but not if it means snow in April! We're chilly here, but nowhere near cold enough to snow, thank goodness. Yours is beautiful but I'm glad you have power again.

Glad all was well in the end - I go into panic mode if things go wrong with getting online - I think I've become addicted to visiting my blog friends!!

Oh my dear, that was quite the storm! I was at mom and didn´t have access to my computer too. One feels lost when we cannot connect to the outside world. Hey, on the positive side, you were able to enjoy a nice romantic dinner. Glad Greg was able to sort it out for you. That´s why we put up with them ;) heheheh :))) Weather is good here, +28C today, but it´s been up and down like a yoyo ... it´s spring! Hugs ...

I've often fantasized about the power going out and never coming back on, like a big CME off the sun took down the grid. Then what? I guess I'd go to bed when it got dark. Loved your photos.
