I'd like to share this recipe with you if you don't know about or don't often visit my food blog.
A very easy and very tasty cabbage soup... goes great with a chunk of toasted home made bread.... which I would also like to share with you. Well, not the actual bread... just the recipe...unless you are in the vicinity...then, by all means, please drop by for a taste. It's getting close to lunch time though...so hurry, or I'll have scoffed the last of it!
oh,....and, ... this bread!!
I made two lovely big loaves...one plain and one with fruits and nuts.... sorry, no pic of the plain! Hah! gone already.... it was ever so tasty.
Susan at 29 Black Street finds some of the best bread recipes. I'm fairly new to bread making. As a matter of fact, I just tried my first loaf a year ago, so was a bit tentative at first, but now, have almost decided that bread making is my new hobby. I've given several different types a go during the year; a fav was Tuscan Peasant Bread from a recipe that she linked to. Oh, is it good. ... I love that bread. A lovely chewy firm crust. I make it and tweak it (add fruit, or perhaps sun dried tomatoes, olives..etc) once or twice a month. When she posted this one... I was convinced it would be equally as good. It definitely is... and as usual...I can't figure out how come I was ever nervous to try bread making! It's easy and so much fun. Oh,... and did I mention tasty?
one of the reasons I must. do. the. treadmill.
...... daily........... and, who cares? especially if the reward is home made bread. Yep, old dogs can learn new tricks...especially for cookies...or, in my case... a slice of lovely bread.

Looks very yummy. Wish I was close by I would have dropped in for lunch.
I can't eat bread. WAHHHHHHHHH!!!
I make great soda bread, too.
When I make it I cut off one slice and eat it, just to test, you see. But my tummy suffers within 10 minutes or so. Not sure why. It isn't caeliac or anything. Just a slight sensitivity. Everything to do with me seems to work better if I stay away from grain!
WHich is probably why my favourite smell is toast or fresh bread, and my favourite sound is toast being buttered. Oh this is ridiculous I'm just torturing myself now! LOL!
Hey, thanks for dropping by. Twenty-nine Black St. does have some great recipes. I too, like to bake bread. And I have a treamill in my basement. errg! What an awful pennance to pay for such decadence.
I love a firm, chewy crust too. I hate crusts that are dry and crumble in your mouth where you need a glass of water just to be able to swallow it. Both your cabbage soup and bread look delicious, Vee!
I Love cabbage Vee so I'll be trying this soup very soon and so glad you liked the bread ... I thought it was the best I'd ever made, Tuscan's good too ! Almost finished my design deadline... but not quite so must get back to it.
Love from les Gang xo Susan
Ooh, V! When are you having us over for dinner?
This whole meal looks so good...and we do have a big head of cabbage that needs to be eaten. The soup with the homemade bread...yum!
:) Diana
Okay you talked me into it! I've got to make some yeast bread now! The soup sounds delicious. We do like cabbage, so I will try it soon.
I love cabbage but I have a husband that finds it discuting so I will never be making this soup, it looks delicious though and the bread sounds heavenly! If I was close by you would be having a guest for dinner, LOL!!
I love when hubby makes bread, makes the flat smell wonderful and its great to eat. So much better then store bought. I wish our kitchen was bigger so we could make lots of loaves at once. Going to have to try these recipes one day :)
Your bread has to be the best and with a bowl of soup. nummm!
I am not surprised that you have eaten all of the loaf.
Something about the smell of bread baking, nothing like it.
thanks for the recipe.
Hugs
Carolyn
Looks delicious adn nutritious! :)
That soup looks delicious and so does the bread. I'll have to remember to visit your other blog! I actually don't enjoy cooking much but for some reason I love to look at food blogs!
Great looking bread. Only worry about the treadmill if using a thick layer of butter! x
I am sure your breads taste just as good as they look! Your bread photos always make my mouth water.
